The jersey by nss and Soccertes is a tribute to MLS
A meeting point between football and soccer
October 22nd, 2024
On the occasion of the nss pop-up in New York, held in early September, a special football jersey was launched, created in collaboration with Soccertes, a brand that celebrates New York's soccer culture. The jersey is available in two versions: short-sleeved grey and long-sleeved navy blue. The jersey is available in the gray short-sleeved version and features the word 'Soccertes,' inspired by the aesthetic of one of the most iconic MLS clubs of the 2000s, the New York Metrostars. Known primarily for their disappointing results on the pitch, the Metrostars stood out for their iconic kits and their continuous spirit of renewal, thanks to innovative rebranding efforts that, even today, make us smile when we remember the top tier of U.S. soccer.
Never being under the hegemony of a single jersey manufacturer, MLS teams often wore unique kits. Brands like Nike and Reebok used MLS as an experimental lab, later exporting successful designs worldwide, with some becoming legendary. The Metrostars' aesthetics embody all the frenzy of New York's fast-paced rhythms, a nearly electric way of life reflected in the logo that was present from '96 to 2006. The jersey templates embraced the "electric design" chosen by the club, a style that made every kit with the Swoosh iconic for the Metrostars. We reinterpreted the aesthetics of New York City with the DNA of Naples, to which we are strongly rooted, by placing a logo on the sleeve that merges the soul of both cities, but most importantly, football and soccer.
