The new Barcelona Home jersey is inspired by the one from 1899
In order to celebrate the club's 125th birthday
July 18th, 2024
On November 29, 1899, Joan Gamper, a Swiss man, decided to introduce football to Barcelona by founding a football club. 125 years have passed since that moment, and Barcelona's history has become increasingly glorious step by step; the club has added countless trophies to its collection and has established a strong footballing tradition. The new Nike Home jersey for the 2024/2025 season draws inspiration from the playing kit used in 1899, faithfully recreating a design that is both old and iconic. Notably, the front of the jersey is perfectly divided into two halves with the club's Spanish colors. However, the most distinctive feature is the placement of the crest and commercial sponsor of the blaugrana prominently at the center of the jersey. Unlike last season, Barcelona will use an updated version of the Spotify branding, circular and without text. Nevertheless, the Home jersey will initially be available in stores during the first months with the same version used last season.
Most likely, Barcelona will repeat the initiative introduced last season with the music streaming platform, replacing the original logo with that of the artists they choose to collaborate with - hence the jersey's aesthetics will change from time to time. Nike's design team has chosen a color shade using an effect described on Barcelona's website as "metaprismatic." This enhances the traditional jersey colors with an innovative effect - more dynamic and luminous - giving the color palette a unique identity while preserving the club's aesthetic.
