The revolution of running is driven by On's LightSpray technology
It will debut on the Cloudboom Strike LS sneaker

On presents LightSprayTM, a new and revolutionary technology developed for footwear uppers. Born in the On Labs in Zurich and conceived by an internal team of innovators, it marks a new era of innovation in footwear manufacturing and performance. The technology will make its first appearance in the high-performance running shoe Cloudboom Strike LS (LightSprayTM). LightSprayTM uppers are not constructed like traditional shoe uppers. They are precisely crafted in a fast, single-step manufacturing process, automated by a robotic arm at the On Labs. The result is a one-piece upper that is ultra-light and offers exceptional fit and support. The ultra-thin, seamless design minimizes distractions and even eliminates the need for laces. The revolutionary single-step LightSpray manufacturing approach paves the way for more sustainable production in the future. The fully automated process reduces waste and produces an upper with 75% less carbon emissions compared to other On shoes.
The process allows for faster production of high-performance shoes with less waste. Additionally, it creates new opportunities for circular production and products, thanks to the construction with a single recyclable material and the assembly process that eliminates the need for glue. «LightSprayTM marks a major milestone for On, not only in creating high-performance products but also in its potential to move us towards a more sustainable and circular future,» said Marc Maurer, Co-CEO of On. «Our team is constantly committed to rethinking the status quo in terms of design, development, and production of high-performance sportswear. The LightSprayTM technology will propel us further in our mission to be the most prestigious sportswear brand, rooted in innovation, design, and impact.» On athletes have been directly involved in the design and testing of this technology and shoe. Earlier this year, Hellen Obiri, four-time world champion and winner of the Boston and New York marathons, wore a development version of the Cloudboom Strike LS when she won the Boston Marathon for the second consecutive year.
