Why does the new Manchester United jersey remind us of the past? That resemblance between Snapdragon and Vodafone

While Kobe Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are traveling the world to play in Euro 2024 and the Copa América, Manchester United becomes the last Premier League club to unveil their Home jersey for the 2024/25 season. As many leaks circulated on the web over the past months already suggested, the Red Devils' game shirt does not surprise with its originality. It features a clean design characterized by the classic Three Stripes of adidas running across the shoulders; the logo of the German brand, meanwhile, is in the now classic oversized version that we have become accustomed to from previous releases. The biggest novelty is, in fact, the new commercial sponsor, Snapdragon, which - intentionally or not - has managed to capture the attention of Manchester United fans. The shape of the logo vaguely recalls that of Vodafone, one of the most memorable sponsors in the history of the Red Devils in the 2000s, used from the 2000/01 season to the 2005/06 season.

With Vodafone as the commercial sponsor, Manchester United raised the last trophies worthy of England's most decorated club, except for the last Champions League, won in the 2007/08 season with the commercial sponsor AIG. Vodafone holds an important place in the collective memory of Manchester United fans, mainly because it brings to mind the pyrotechnic plays of a still-debuting Cristiano Ronaldo. In short, there are all the reasons for fans to accept this jersey favorably. Finally, among the presentation photos published on the Red Devils' Instagram profile, Mainoo, Garnacho, and Hojlund wear the game shirt in a longsleeve version: the clues provided by Manchester United give us hope that next season will see more long-sleeve game shirts - just like CR7 still wears today with the Portuguese national team.
