Cafu becomes the testimonial of a brand against racism
Makakooo wants to turn a racist insult into an anti-racist statement and asks us all to do it together

Racism remains one of humanity's most complex challenges, manifesting in discrimination based on skin color, language, origin, and customs. Despite numerous policies and campaigns to end such behaviors, racism continues to plague society, including the world's most popular sport, football. Many football players who have been victims of racist acts or comments are now speaking out in major leagues, demanding justice. From the case of Vinicius Jr. in Spain, to the recent controversies surrounding Son and the Canadian National Team, football and its governing bodies seem to be more active in wanting to solve a problem that is so deeply rooted in society and that emerges in all its cruelty during matches. We spoke about this with Marcos Evangelista de Morais, known to all as Cafù, one of the best right-backs in the history of football and the face of Makakooo, a brand that was born with the mission of fighting racism in Brazil and around the world.
"We chose to create a clothing brand because everyone needs to dress" jokes the two-time World Cup champion, "and our goal is for everyone to wear our jerseys to carry on this battle together". Cafù is very committed to communicating the absurdity of racism, stating that "it is an evil that afflicts the whole world equally, racism is racism everywhere", from the poorest areas of São Paulo where he was born and raised, to the most prestigious stadiums in Europe. Thus, Makakooo was born, wanting to turn a racist insult into an anti-racist statement, thus neutralizing violent language.
"I believe it is my duty to speak out because my skin color and my origin should only be sources of pride. I speak on behalf of millions of people who, as victims of racism, cannot speak for themselves today. Enough with the racism experienced not only in football, but in countless spaces and sports. This must end." confides the Brazilian National Team's right-back, who wears the two garments that represent Makakooo's first collection. A hoodie and a baby blue t-shirt with the brand's logo in the center, with 15% of all profits from sales being donated to three NGOs actively fighting racism: Fundación Tiempo de Juego in Colombia, Action for Compassion in Ghana, and APNS Do Brazil in Brazil. "Football has an incredible power, that of moving people through their passion. Let's use it to change the world. Together."
