Héctor Bellerín is a true icon in the world of football, especially for his achievements outside the sport. It was the Spaniard who broke the dichotomy between football and fashion as early as 2018. It was in that year that Bellerín attended his first fashion week as a professional footballer: we remember him in a look composed of Balenciaga Triple S, denim jacket, and yellow beanie, sitting next to Travis Scott. Today, Bellerín would no longer wear those sneakers and would certainly choose new accessories to enhance his look. Yet, that image from 6 years ago is clear evidence of the impact Bellerín has had on contemporary football in terms of expressing his individuality. Just a few days ago, the full-back launched his new brand: it is called Gospel Estudios and represents the latest milestone in a journey that definitively establishes him. In 2019, he walked the runway for Louis Vuitton, in 2021, he collaborated on a sustainable collection for H&M, and he has lent his image to several campaigns, such as the 2022 campaign for the first football capsule collection by Golf Wang, the brand of Tyler, The Creator. Héctor Bellerín has succeeded in bringing fashion even more into the heart of sports: he, along with all the members of the Barcelona locker room, initiated the so-called tunnel fits, the runways where footballers arrive at the stadium showcasing their most unique outfits.

Bellerín has now passed the torch of fashion icon to Jules Koundé, due to his absence from the field caused by repeated injuries - only 27 appearances in the last two years. We were all waiting for Bellerín's boldest step, the launch of his personal project, which comes in collaboration with the creative Spiritual Cowboy. The brand, officially launched on Friday, May 31, through the publication of teaser campaign shots, highlights hoodie balaclavas and nylon pants, and seems to have the potential to make a significant impact within the fashion industry. Especially based on what the player himself stated in an exclusive interview with The Business of Fashion: «Launching Gospel Estudios has helped me 'recharge my batteries.' It’s a way to distract myself, to learn something new, and most importantly, to do it with my own hands.» The statement given to BoF also highlights how important it is for a footballer to build a life parallel to his profession, especially when playing in top leagues that demand higher than average pressure tolerance. Driven by these motivations, we are certain that Bellerín will use Gospel Estudios to express his individuality - fitting for one of the most interesting and unique athletes of recent years.
