In Genoa, on Friday 17th, the sun was shining and its rays hit the facades of the buildings overlooking the 5-a-side football pitch at the Luzzati Gardens, recently renovated. The Luzzati Gardens are a unique meeting place for the city's community, especially when they are crowded with people, as was the case during the stage of the Kappa Cup, the second-last before the closing event in Paris. The teams of nss sports, Pioggia Rossa Dischi, and the selection of Genoa CFC participated, surprising opponents and the many spectators with the unexpected appearance of Domenico Criscito, former legend of the club and international football, with an impressive record of 43 goals among professionals. The tournament opened with the match between nss sports and Pioggia Rossa Dischi, ending with a score of 7-3. There was no competition, however, in the second match between Pioggia Rossa Dischi and Genoa, dominated by the local selection supported by the audience present. The fate of the tournament was decided in the final clash between nss sports and Genoa: the first 25 minutes were highly contested, with the former attempting a comeback to reach 3-4. However, the willpower was not enough to prevent Mimmo Criscito from dominating the game, scoring an impressive 7 goals, leading the final score of the match to 5-10.
But beyond the sporting result, the Kappa Cup celebration involved everyone, even during the after-party where the teams met fans and enthusiasts, reminiscing about the many goal opportunities over a beer and a slice of Recco focaccia. After the success of the second stage, the Kappa Cup returns to Paris on May 31st for another unmissable event. Follow the Kappa Cup through the dedicated website by clicking here.
