The Real Madrid pre-match jersey is the best of the season
Worn twice in the Champions League against Bayern Munich

In the second leg of the Champions League Semifinals, Real Madrid prevailed over Bayern Munich thanks to Joselu's brace. But beyond the Blancos' habitual titanic comeback, the eyes of those present at the Bernabeu were drawn to the pre-match jersey worn by Carlo Ancelotti's coached players. An incredible purple jersey that is poised to be one of the most interesting of the ongoing season. The protagonists are the shades of purple and a very particular monogram characterized by the letters R and M. Purple is a symbolic color in Real Madrid's history - think of the fourth jersey in collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto released back in March or the away version of the 2016/2017 season, worn by Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff. The Blancos could thus inaugurate the trend of monograms on warm-up shirts by giving more prominence to patterns and winking at the most famous fashion brands that have built part of their visual identity thanks to monograms, such as Gucci, Fendi, Dior, or Goyard.
Several teams - national and club - have recently been paying great attention to the moments preceding the kickoff of matches. This was already evident during the last international break in March. Portugal's pre-match jersey had enchanted thanks to the iconographies belonging to the country's tradition, the azulejos, which managed to make the entire front area unique. Considering how both adidas and Nike have great creative freedom when it comes to creating items adjacent to the official game ones, the creations seen on the field during the last international break made us hypothesize, more than ever, that technical sponsors intend to invest a lot in pre-match jerseys: it's a unique opportunity to unleash creativity, using innovative materials, and showcasing different patterns.
