The Valladolid logo will be decided through a vote
The club's fans are close to an important milestone
December 14th, 2023
In the Segunda División, Real Valladolid is currently in second place, just two points behind the leader, Leganés, positioning itself as one of the main contenders for promotion to Liga as the group stage comes to a close. Beyond the on-field results, the club, of which Ronaldo Nazário is president, is making a significant move. After releasing two long sleeves created by Kappa, the club is reportedly considering restoring the old logo used from 1998 to 2022—a sort of return to the past aimed at reworking the club's aesthetics in every aspect. Regarding the most crucial decision, whether to return to the logo changed in June 2022, the club's board reportedly consulted with the fans, who once again expressed their dissatisfaction.
About 22,000 people are expected to participate in the online vote, which will be available on the team's website from December 16 to 18. If the old logo wins the vote, it will be replaced starting from the 2024/2025 season; therefore, there is no chance that the logo will change during the current season. This episode is a concrete demonstration of how delicate this type of change can be: the new Real Valladolid logo did not completely sever ties with the club's history and tradition; it is a simplification of the one designed in 1928, which was used—with minor modifications—until 1962.
