Chelsea's third jersey goes back to the roots
Inspired by the Eton Blue with which it took the field in the club's early years

Even before the Blues adopted their historic nickname, Chelsea played in jerseys in a lighter shade of blue called Eton Blue because it was used by the sports clubs of the famous Berkshire university. Indeed, the club's first president, George Henry Cadogan, was an alumnus and wanted to preserve his school's tradition. The colour lasted for two seasons until 1907 when Chelsea decided to darken its jersey and wear it in the shade for which it is famous and recognisable today.
Taking that first colour as a starting point, Nike and Chelsea have today designed the new third jersey, which will make its debut at the away game at Bournemouth. A tribute to the traditions of the London club, mixed with the modernity and comfort of the new Nike jerseys. The lack of a main sponsor on the Blues' jersey also adds the right touch of nostalgia to the shirt, which looks back on the club's deep past.
