Sleeping on top of a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo

The first thought when talking about Porsche is surely its sports cars that have entered our minds since 1931 and have defined automotive history with their features and accuracy when it comes to engines but also to its design. Yet what we had the opportunity to do this weekend goes beyond all logic and every way you have ever thought or conceived of the German brand born in Stuttgart. In fact, we took part in 'Porsche On Board', one of the German brand's initiatives that gives Porsche enthusiasts the opportunity to explore Italy's most enchanting locations for six weekends of pure fun, combining water sports such as Kitesurfing, Wingfoil and eFoi with high-altitude disciplines such as MTB eBike, sport climbing and hiking.

To escape the heat that has invaded all of Italy this month, and especially Milan, we reached Cortina, where, surrounded by mountains and truly unique landscapes, we found a host of cars waiting for us. Not just any cars, let's be clear, but the Taycan Cross Turismo, a mix of speed, innovation and a strong link with the environment thanks to its electric nature. Starting in an exclusive location like Cortina, we drove the roads leading up to the top of the Passo Sella with dynamic routes that highlighted the vehicle's top features. As the company's first Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV), the Taycan Cross Turismo combines Porsche's classic zero-emission driving dynamics with a high-tech off-road chassis. The most striking aspect of the Taycan Cross Turismo is that it is a versatile companion that can be used for everyday life, long journeys and off-road adventures to make your holidays special.

A car that can also accommodate you for the night. In fact, the unforgettable part of our trip came when we had the chance to literally sleep on top of our grey Taycan Cross Turismo as it transported us through the Dolomites. The Roof Tent Experience is one of many enhancements that make the car even more unique and an opportunity to be in direct contact with nature, sleeping on the roof of the car inside the Porsche Tequipment roof tent. A tent developed in Weissach, designed for those who don't want to give up comfort even during the wildest excursions with the maximum comfort Porsche can offer. And the best moment, although it is difficult to identify just one, is the large Skyview skylight from which we admired the stars, which in the mountains are of course more than visible and vivid.

Despite the low degrees, the night in the tent went more than well, but the most incredible thing is certainly the fact that the tent is more than easy to set up and comes in a hard case in black/light grey or black/dark grey that does not disturb or spoil the aesthetics and design, in fact giving it a different touch to what we are usually used to seeing. However, the 'Porsche On Board' programme did not just include cars and test drives but much more. In fact, we also tested our sporting skills, but above all in contact with nature, surrounded by woods, mountains and landscapes for which descriptions or words would not do justice to their beauty. While a light rain interrupted our walk through the mountains on the first day, everything went smoothly the next day when we tried out the eBikes, a true design object inspired by the legendary Porsche flyline.

These bicycles were born from the collaboration with industry-leading partner ROTWILD, which made it possible to combine the know-how of the two companies in the creation of a high-performance product in both urban and off-road contexts. We tested it in the mountains, circuits and downhills, testing the carbon frame, all-terrain tyres, gearbox and Shimano motor that don't make you fear any type of trail, from the most intricate to the easiest.

A hard-to-forget experience that made us discover the infinite possibilities that the Porsche world has to offer, combining the perfection of its engines, design with nature and sustainability, as well as the future. In fact, a car that only looks ahead and is projected to go beyond unthinkable limits, thanks to its autonomy of over 400km that allows it to reach every possible destination.
