Toronto FC's third jersey is a bundle of energy
Insigne will wear kit inspired by Toronto's Caribbean Carnival
July 4th, 2023
This season in MLS, adidas, the sole sponsor of the US Football League, has decided that four teams will have a third jersey in addition to the classic home and away jerseys. Similar to the NBA, the teams' jerseys will follow the concept of the City Edition, dedicated to a characteristic but little-known aspect of the respective city. In the case of Toronto FC, the jersey was inspired by the Caribbean carnival in Toronto and is themed "Energy"," which also infected our Lorenzo Insigne.
The design of the jersey is indeed a tribute to Caribbean culture with a bold colour palette representing the attractions of the carnival. The textured motif references the bright feathers worn by the Mas Bands and is complemented by the "All For One" pillars highlighted on the t-shirt's label. The Energy Kit will be worn at TFC's annual Caribbean Heritage Night on 8 July against St Louis City SC at BMO Field. This year's game will feature an authentic immersion into Caribbean culture, including fusion cuisine in the concourse, a pre-game Caribbean "tailgate" featuring DJ Soca, Junior Carnival Parade participants at the opening ceremony, performances by the Steel Pan Band and more.
