When the 1988-90 two-year period begins, Sir Alex Ferguson is only in his second season at Manchester United, and the FA Cup he will win in the 89/90 season is the first trophy of a career that will leave an indelible mark on the Red Devils' history. In addition to the achievements on the field, the two-year span is also remembered for the uniforms worn on the inside of the field and the terrace style of the fans, who inspired the new collection presented by Manchester United and adidas Originals.
The Man Utd x Originals collection takes some of the iconic items of clothing from those seasons when it was Mark Hughes' goals that made Old Trafford exult, and the passion of fans who followed the away team that was about to make its debut in the following years all the "Class of '92". The collection is a nostalgic evocation of the typical terrace style of the era, made more current by the use of new materials and a contemporary design that cites details from uniforms of the era such as sponsors and garment cuts.
Among the highlights of the collection, worn in campaign shots by Lisandro Martínez and Luke Shaw among others, is the third jersey of the era, blue with the three stripes on the shoulders and the Trefoil, along with the crest and sponsor Sharp, on the chest. Also, a dip into 90s football style is the red bench jacket, worn on the bench by Sir Alex. The rest of the capsule consists of shirts, shorts, and even a sweatshirt inspired by Manchester United's signature style
