Olympique Marseille's fourth kit is stellar
Inspired by the 30th anniversary of the Champions League victory against AC Milan
April 14th, 2023
Thirty years ago, the French team led by Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly defeated Fabio Capello's team AC Milan in what is still the first and last Champions League won by a transalpine team. To commemorate this historic achievement, Olympique Marseille have today released their fourth jersey of the season, commemorating the jersey the players wore that night in Monaco. The jersey, signed by PUMA, has a white background and a large five-pointed star in shaded sky blue centred on the left shoulder where the three stripes that distinguished the adidas template were located 30 years ago.
OM's two society colours thus come together in a unique model that pays homage to the deep history of the club and French football, of which the Provençal team is the ultimate expression. Although Olympique were initially relegated to Ligue 2 the following year due to a corporate scandal and were later implicated in a doping investigation, the club's myth remains in France, where it contributed to the club's brilliant season that saw them win the 1998 World Cup on home soil.
