Liverpool e Converse are collaborating but no football jersey is on sight
Reds continue to flirt with basketball imagery after partnership with LeBron James
March 23rd, 2023
Having anticipated the collaboration between Liverpool and Converse earlier this week, today we can already take a look at the result of the meeting between these two global icons. The collection focuses heavily on the lifestyle aspect of the two brands and includes nine pieces, all featuring the famous Liverpool and Converse logos. Although Converse's history is closely linked to the world of basketball, in the early 2000s the brand produced football kits for two lesser-known clubs: Atlético Nacional in Colombia and Politehnica Timișoara in Romania.
Of course, the iconic Chuck 70 is not to be missed, in this case featuring the Liver Bird, Sea Holly and YNWA symbols, as well as a varsity jacket referencing the 1984 Champions League final. The collection, which will be available from 6 April, also includes a bucket hat, polo shirts, T-shirts, shorts, tops and tracksuit bottoms, as well as a pair of customised Converse Hike Platforms. A football jersey, on the other hand, is not available, although Converse has been part of Nike, the technical sponsor of Klopp's team, for years.
It's the first time the two brands have collaborated, showing that football's aesthetic is increasingly approaching a lifestyle dimension of its own, as well as conquering spaces normally occupied by other sports. After the collaboration between the Reds and LeBron James, sealed by a collection that included both a football jersey and a basketball jersey, Converse is now also entering Liverpool's orbit, along with its 70s heritage and street-forward.
