After 7 years West Ham might leave Umbro
For the first time in their history the Hammers could sign with Nike
October 13th, 2022
One of the most iconic relationships between a brand and one of England's most renowned clubs could soon come to an end. In fact, according to Footy Headlines, West Ham could change technical sponsor from the 2023/24 season, leaving Umbro to switch to Nike. This surprising news would help the American sponsor consolidate its presence in what is undoubtedly the most competitive and spectacular league in the world. Nike, however, is not the only brand at the centre of the rumours, according to other sources, Castore has also probed the ground to secure the London club, expanding its roster that currently consists of: Newcastle, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton.
Needless to say, the West Ham brand is one of the most popular in the Premier League. The cinema has certainly contributed to the media expansion of the brand and as a consequence, the club's identity has also become much more popular; the Old Firm then did the rest, establishing itself in the 1990s as one of the most violent and famous of the hooligans, so much so that even the book written by Cass Pennant, one of the most representative figures of the Hammers' organised supporters, attracted much interest around the phenomenon. In mass culture, West Ham is a popular icon, and a team that is now also reaping excellent results could not fail to attract the attention of other brands, even if on the one hand it seems impossible to replicate the heritage and designs that Umbro has come up with over the past seven years, actively contributing to the club's definitive rise.
