UEFA wants to update the brand identity of the Champions League, again
After changing the structure of the tournament, UEFA wants to give its most prestigious competition a makeover
June 13th, 2022
After changing the structure of the Champions League by creating a single 36-team group, UEFA does not want to be unprepared and is planning to update the competition's brand identity as well. In fact, President Aleksander Ceferin and his team have launched a request for information to various creative agencies that will be in charge of creating a new brand identity for what is widely considered to be year zero of the European cup, as everything will change from 2024-2027.
An unexpected change since UEFA updated the Champions League logo, without ever issuing an official communication, this summer. An imperceptible change, visible only to the most attentive and ready eyes. So the end of the historic logo introduced by Europe's top football body in 1992 seems to have come, with its presence only confirmed for the next two years. UEFA will send a Request For Proposal to the selected agencies on 14 September. After that, UEFA will evaluate each new proposal and then announce the winners and the most interesting projects by 30 January 2023.
