The new Barcelona jersey designed by Nike for the 2022/23 season
A tribute to the 1992 Olympics and the first with the new Spotify sponsor on the chest
June 3rd, 2022
Barcelona today unveiled the jersey it will take to the pitch in the 2022/23 season, continuing the partnership with Nike that has been going on since 1998. The U.S. brand this time decided to redesign the Blaugrana jersey by inserting a dark blue stripe and a single-color block on the top and sleeves to break up the classic template of vertical lines.
The jersey is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Olympics, hosted in the Catalan city itself and a symbol of cultural and sporting rebirth thanks to the many interventions made for the occasion. From the creation of the Port Olímpic and the renovation of the current Vila Olímpica that connected the city to the sea, to the construction of the Palau Sant Jordi, Santiago Calatrava's Montjuïc Communications Tower and many other infrastructures that have become central to the city's development in recent years, the Olympics opened Barcelona to the world and the world to Barcelona.
This is why the new jersey was presented under the TagLine "The Flame Lives On," underscoring how this giant leap into modernity was also matched by a strong rootedness in the traditions and history of its own territory. This is also the first uniform with the logo of the new sponsor Spotify in the center, as well as the ever-present UNHCR symbol that as always highlights the great social commitment of the Barcelona club.
