Will Xavi be Dior's next brand ambassador?
After Mbappé, the French fashion house targets an illustrious bench
May 9th, 2022
Since last season, new names have been emerging on the bench, young coaches who, with more or less effort, are making their mark in their respective European tournaments. One of these is certainly Xavi, the new coach who arrived at Barcelona with the aim of collecting the highest number of positive results and raising the company's name on the pitch. Such a prestigious task that the former midfielder does not face with the charm of a double-breasted jacket, but with jeans and a total black sweatshirt, often with Nike products, sponsor of the club, even in the last match the Spaniard wore a Dior garment. As reported by FootyHeadlines it seems possible that the Spanish coach is ready to sign with the French fashion house, but not only, the agreement could also concern his Barcelona, which from 2021 no longer has an official formal wear after not having renewed with Thom Browne.
After PSG and Mbappé, the French fashion house could thus score another major coup in the world of football. Casual but always formal and elegant, he would be a perfect brand ambassador for Dior. He is doing so not only for a matter of personal style - he also dressed like this at Al Sadd, his first club - but also to get closer to a young group in search of a sporting renaissance. Also due to his young age, Xavi came onto the pitch looking like one of the starters, a player out with an injury and following the game from the bench, a kind of escort.
In Spain, however, casual dressing on the bench is a style that is now canonised thanks to the very low average age of the coaches, with examples such as Granada's Robert Moreno and Celta Vigo's Eduardo Coudet maximising the concept of informality - and in fact, on Spanish benches, you see a lot of jeans and anoraks. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks, even Xavi has already given us some clues by wearing this particular jumper with the logo clearly visible.
