Burberry and Rashford together again for youth literacy
An initiative to redefine the future to help and improve schools in Manchester, Yorkshire and London
November 25th, 2021
In partnership with England international footballer Marcus Rashford, Burberry today announced its support for organisations in the UK committed to helping disadvantaged children develop their literacy skills. The British brand has a very detailed charity programme aimed at supporting organisations and has once again renewed its commitment to helping the next generation realise their dreams, unlocking opportunities and giving them the tools to go further. Burberry will provide funding to transform school libraries and donate books, ensuring children have access to safe environments and resources to develop their potential. In addition, the United footballer and the brand will also support organisations in the US and Asia to create new libraries and provide all materials to disadvantaged communities.
Research published by the National Literacy Trust last month found that one in four schools in England's most deprived communities has no designated library or reading space. Burberry with its funding aims to transform library spaces in the 10 neediest schools in Manchester, Yorkshire and London, helping around 3,500 children.
