Barça's third kit inspired by the neighbourhoods of Catalan capital

Barcelona and Nike have just presented the third kit for the 2021-22 season, after focusing on the extravagant design of the home version - inspired by the Blaugrana logo - and the iridescent effect of the away version. The reference for the third jersey - which will only be used in Champions League matches and will make its debut on 14 September at the Camp Nou match against Bayern Munich - is once again the city of Barcelona, which, as every year, becomes a source of inspiration for the designers behind the Catalans' kits. For this jersey, however, alongside the Nike creators, local artists have also worked, called upon to transform the neighbourhoods of Poble-sec, Poble Nou, Gràcia, Raval and Les Corts into iconic symbols that make up the pattern of the jersey.

A hymn to youth creativity and Barcelona's architecture, as happened last year with the pre-match jersey inspired by Antoni Gaudi's mosaics in Parc Guell and with the third jersey of the 2018-19 season that has as its city reference the Avinguda Diagonal that perfectly divides the city in two. Chromatically, the jersey is very reminiscent of the first one, with brighter shades of blue and red dominating the kit. One of the most significant details is placed on the socks, with the words "El nostre Barça" appearing on the front.

The local component that becomes global, one of the classic prerogatives of Barça, which is one of the first clubs to have managed to build a worldwide fan base - second only to Manchester United. This local component is not only given by the young talents who designed the jersey but also by those who musically accompanied the launch: Stay Homas, an emerging group from Barcelona, created a soundtrack for the launch video and became part of this project also through the special shooting in the Catalan capital.
