The third kit of Liverpool 2021-22 by Nike
With a design dedicated to the Kop but approaching that of AS Roma x Brain Dead
September 8th, 2021
After having presented months ago the home and away jersey, this morning Liverpool released the third and last jersey of the new season obviously signed by Nike. The swoosh has dusted off an iconic color, yellow, used a lot between the 50s and 70s. Nike has opted for a checkered design on the sleeves and collar, as with Atletico Madrid's third, a tribute to the Kop and the flags that populated the curve during the 1977 Champions Cup final. The kit is completed by thin pinstripes that emphasize the close bond between the club and its fans. After Atletico and Juventus, Liverpool has now decided to link one of its shirts to its stadium and to one of its symbols: the Kop. As in the other two jerseys in the back of the collar is the "96" enclosed between two flames that commemorates the victims of the tragedy of Hillsborough. Liverpool's third is also made of 100% recycled polyester fabric, made from recycled plastic bottles.
A jersey that undoubtedly resembles the one created by Brain Dead for Roma in 2020, not only for the colors but also for the choice of design. The pattern on the sleeves and on the collar is identical to the one created by the collective of artists around the world the previous year. Created to eradicate reality, Roma's fourth jersey, first available only on PES and then in physical stores, was undoubtedly one of the references along with the Reds' 60s kits.
The jersey will be available online at Liverpool's website starting September 21.
