April 23rd, 2021
After five seasons with the German brand Uhlsport, Ligue 1 changes technical partner for the balls and chooses Kipsta, brand of Decathlon. The French sporting goods company has signed an agreement that will start from the 2022-23 season until 2026-27, with a final year again with Uhlsport.
As FootyHeadlines explained, Kipsta will also supply the French Second Division, Ligue 2 BKT, for the same timeline. With this important partnership the French brand becomes the third brand to supply the balloons to Ligue 1 since the French championship has opened contracts for the supply of balloons: at the beginning it was Nike, in 2009, then three years of PUMA, from 2012 until 2017 with adidas, while from 2017 it was the turn of Uhlsport.
At the same time, the five-year agreement between Kipsta and Ligue 1 would ensure a prestigious position for Kipsta herself, who would appear on screens around the world thanks to champions such as Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria and Depay.
For Ligue 1 the last two years has been the scene of several changes. In addition to the football’s technical sponsor, there was a change of partnership at the start of the season for the naming rights of the league. In fact, after three seasons of Ligue 1 Conforama - a very popular supermarket chain in France - the title of the French championship has changed toLigue 1 Uber Eats, with the League that has signed an agreement with the food delivery company only for the first division, since the second, the Ligue 2, has for three years an agreement with BKT, a tire company that also sponsors the Italian Serie B.
