Last Tuesday the extraordinary assembly of the AFA, the Argentine Football Federation, took place - clearly at a distance - in which Claudio Tapia was re-elected president until 2025 and, at the same time, the Liga Profesional de Fùtbol was presented, which will replace the Super Liga, which in turn had undergone a renewal and rebranding in 2017.

The new competition will have a logo very similar to that of the Asociación del Fùtbol Argentino, confirming what had been accidentally shown for the first time in a short video posted on Twitter a few weeks ago.
The main objective of the new board of directors is to bridge the gap between the Primera Division and the Ascent, and one of the first changes on which this process is to be founded is that there is only one body that acts as supervisor. ''The idea is to improve all aspects of competition, encourage the entry of resources for institutions and provide supporters with better performances and services. Argentine football must recover the privileged place it has known and that would make it a world power. This is what we aim for from the Professional League" said Marcelo Tinelli, president of the former Super Liga.
Regarding the football played instead, despite the decree that provided for the cancellation of the season due to the pandemic, it is expected that a mini-tournament will start in September which will last until the end of 2020, since then from January 2021 the real and own league that will have to respect the schedule of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
