Serie A will introduce a unique font for all teams
On the 20 Serie A club jerseys starting from next season
February 19th, 2020
Serie A is planning to make two great innovations to the match jerseys ahead of next season: one of these concerns the obligation to use sponsors with no background (we talked about it more in deepth here), while the other concerns the adoption of a single font for names and numbers. A real stylistic revolution for the Italian major league, in the wake of what has already happened for years in the other major European leagues such as the Premier League and the Spanish La Liga, but also in the MLS. But above all another operation aimed at standardizing the equipment, so it was decided not long ago to use the exact same captain's armband without admitting customized versions.
The unique font for all twenty top-flight teams will almost certainly be revealed at the end of the season, when the clubs have already worked on the kits to use during the 2020/2021 season, and will greatly affect the designs of the game jerseys given that for some brands it will be more possible (like adidas with Juventus 2019/2020 shirt) to independently draw the characters. The big teams will still be able to design their own personal fonts, however, to be used exclusively in the European competitions.
