The new Spain Home jersey for Euro 2020
adidas is inspired by abstract art for the new Roja Home kit
November 11th, 2019
adidas has taken advantage of the International break to present the new Home kits of some national teams that will participate in Euro 2020, and among these there is Spain, which managed to find the qualification with two games of advance, in Group F. The German brand does not waste time and unveiled the official Home Kit that the Iberians will wear in the matches against Malta and Romania and during the European Championships.
The Spanish federation (RFEF) announced last May that it wanted to move away from adidas after 26 years, despite a contract expiring in 2026. The new kit seems, therefore, to draw a line under this story, at least for the moment, moving away from a PUMA sponsorship.
The concept of the kit follows the one adopted for the other jerseys presented by adidas in these days, or a more artistic approach, with decorative elements that for this kit translate into blocks of shades of red, inspired by Spanish abstract art. The history of art was also the theme used by the manager Robert Moreno to announce the squad for the challenges scheduled this week, the CT has issued the list of names through a video shot directly at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
The elements that most characterize this monochrome shirt are the three stripes, one vertical and two horizontal, that cross the chest, as well as the large V-neck that gives a retro taste typical of the recent kits of the German brand. Three Stripes run along the shoulders, while the adidas logo and the crest of the Selección Espanola de Fútbol are inserted in the chest. The last detail that embellishes the kit is the rampant lion, also present inside the Spanish flag.
