Zion Williamson signs with Jordan Brand

Six months ago, when we wrote this article about the future of basketball sneakers in 2019, we defined the brand's struggle as a 'thermonuclear war' to grab the services of the most promising American basketball talent, the one who managed to get people talking of if before landing in the NBA as only LeBron James at his age: in the end was Jordan Brand to sign him, as announced by Zion Williamson himself on Instagram.

The former Duke player, recently chosen with the pick No.1 by the New Orleans Pelicans, had already jumped to the news not only for its spectacular dunks and for its physical dominance, but also for the case of the sneaker that literally broke out during the match, last February. As soon as he signed with Jordan, he immediately commented:

“I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family, since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can’t express how happy and excited I am for this journey.”

Williamson, who will not take part in the Chinese World Cup, according to reliable sources would have signed a 7-year agreement for $ 75 million and thus increases Jordan's fabulous roster, which in recent months had already focused on young prospects as the Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins, Canadian basketball female player Kia Nurse, Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum and Japanese talent Rui Hachimura.
