The presentation of the new CBF president, Rogerio Caboclo, was an the occasion to launch the new Nike uniform that the Brazilian Seleçao will wear for the Copa America 2019. As already circulated for months, the new jersey is the so-called Nova Amarelinha, white with blue inserts like the one worn by the South American team during the Copa America organized and won in 1919.
As a testimonial for the new jersey was the young talent from Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr., who wore the new polo shirt for the first time. Among the most particular details, the small blue triangle under the collar and the words O Team Brasileiro inside. The kit which will also have a name and number printed in blue, is completed with blue shorts and navy socks, although on the occasion of the inaugural match against Bolivia on June 14, the president Caboclo announced that Brazil will wear the classic green-gold uniform.
The white and blue uniform is part of the history of Brazilian football selection, and these are the colors that, as stated by the marketing director of CBF, Gilberto Ratto, "paved the way for the consecration of our national team" that stopped wearing it after 1950, when Brazil lost the World Cup home final against Uruguay, a historic match that is still remembered today as Maracanazo.
