The NBA together with beIN SPORTS (the official NBA broadcaster in France) just announced live during the NBA Extra program on beIN SPORTS in the presence of the Charlotte Hornets legend Muggsy Bogues: on January 24th, 2020 Kemba Walker's Charlotte Hornets and Giannīs Antetokounmpo's Milwaukee Bucks will play the NBA Paris Game. The game will be held at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.
This will be the second Hornets' match ever in Paris, after the one played in 1994 against the Golden State Warriors, although during the pre-season. For the Bucks instead, it will be the first time in France, having already played a regular season game in London in 2015.
All NBA matches taking place outside the United States and Canada are called NBA Global Games. Their aim is to export the brand, but also teams and players of the National Basketball Association around the world. The NBA Regular Season is not new to this type of "away games": France is the fourth country to host a regular season game after Japan (the first time was back in 1990), Mexico and Great Britain.
The NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan already spoke about the event:
"The NBA Paris Game will showcase the continued growth of basketball in France, in one of the largest sports cities in the world. There is the highest number of European NBA players ever, and the Hornets and Bucks represent the huge international talent in our league today. We look forward to sharing this with fans from all over Europe for the first regular-season game in Paris."
These are Silver's speech, while Jordan said:
"The Charlotte Hornets are proud to have the opportunity to participate in the first regular-season NBA game in Paris. Having played during the preseason in France during my career, I saw with my own eyes the passion that the French has for the "NBA. We look forward to coming to Paris for this historic event."
No other info is available at the moment, but you can register on the NBA website in the "events" section to receive all the updates on the NBA Paris Game 2020.
