The Piacenza Football Club's centenary shirt
Gilardino, Inzaghi and Nainggolan are just some of the great players who worn the red and white shirt
November 28th, 2018
It's not a happy year for the Via Emilia clubs, except the return of Parma in Serie A, in the last year three historical clubs as Cesena, Reggiana and Modena have failed. After a few seasons in the shade, instead, Piacenza Football Club is third in Group A of the Italian third division. In the year in which the white-red team celebrates its centenary, the club decided to pay tribute to a story made up of strikers and unconditional affection of the supporters, with a celebration shirt.
Macron, who has been sponsoring Piacenza for 10 years, has created a shirt inspired by the models of the past. It was presented last weekend and worn for the first time in the last match against Arezzo. A red base, with a thin white pinstripe, tribute to the official models of the '80s, unite to the laces on the neck and the white collar, are a vintage touch of the shirt, as well as a way to look back to the first Piacenza team, founded in 1919 by the eighteen-year-old student Giovanni Dosi. The logo is the one of the '50s /' 60s, with a red and white ball and a yellow P, then replaced by what is still the symbol of the team, the rhombus with the wolf, which was present on the early '90 jerseys, when the club has lived its best seasons, reaching the Serie A with a roster composed only by Italian player, who scores with bicycle kick against Milan, or launching young player who becomes part of the Italian football history. On the collar, the writing "Piacenza Calcio 1919" is embroidered in white. The commemorative uniform also includes a black box set, with the inscription "100 anni, a century of history", where are indicated the names of all the players who have dressed the colors of Piacenza Football Club. Looking at the names, we notice a part of the history of Italian football, from Gilardino to the Inzaghi brothers, but also Hubner, Vierchowod and Nainggolan.
The jersey is available on Macron website and the team officially wears it from 1st January 2019.
