Why is the NBA the most beautiful league in the world? And you see from the little things: like the letter sent by the NBA to their players

A few days ago we wrote about how the NBA is, without a doubt, the most absurd league in the world. Today with the same certainty we tell you that it is the most beautiful league in the world and not for technical or entertainment issues, that we already knew, but for a much deeper reason. Yesterday a joint letter was sent to all the players of the league by the same NBA and the National Basketball Players Association, in which he essentially hopes to all the players the most classic of "good league at all". Reading the letter in question one can not remain indifferent to the NBA's ability to bring all its members together under the same roof made up of values that go beyond the Game, with a capital G, such as equality, dialogue, gratitude, the responsibility towards the society that every single member of the system must marry, otherwise it is outside, without discussion.

To give you a little more context, we bring you some passages of the letter in question. Of course we advise you to read it all, it deserves.

"The Players Association and the League are always available to help you find the most meaningful ways to make that difference. We continue to support your efforts to bring together families, community leaders and law enforcement. to rebuild trust in our neighborhoods; mentor and empower young people; encourage civic engagement; and amplify the voices of organizations that champion the values of equality, diversity and inclusion."

"Above all, our partnership shows that we are one family. We may not always agree on every issue, but we still look out for one another. We listen and learn from each other. And we understand that we're all part of something bigger than just a game."

"As a new season begins, let's continue channeling that spirit together. Best of luck, stay healthyand please reach out with any questions or ideas. We're always here for you."

In addition to this, for many years now the NBA has spent millions on campaigns to raise awareness of important social issues. NBA Cares is the league’s global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA’s mission of addressing important social issues. NBA Cares programs and participants have provided more than 4.1 million hours of hands-on service and created more than 1,115 places where kids and families can live, learn or play in communities around the world.  The NBA also engages more than 18 million youth annually, inspiring play and teaching the values of the game.

The NBA was the first American professional league to include an admittedly gay player, the leaders of the league, Adam Silver (the NBA commissioner) in the lead, were in the front row at the gay pride of New York to make everyone understand that the National Basketball Association has as its first concern the defense of the rights of the person in any field.

Being Italian and consequently also a football fan, my brain automatically makes an association of ideas that I would like totally reject. I think of our dear and tormented "pallone", the inability to organize and progress, that I say progress, to live worthily. The chaos that reigns supreme in the world of local football, at all levels, is a constant pain for those like me who follow with equal attention the NBA and the comparison is really pitiless, to put it mildly. The Serie A with a ridiculous governance, has remained without a leader for an indecent and inadmissible time, the Series B with so many problems that there was even talk of suspension of the current championship, a disastrous situation even in Serie C with appeals on appeals. Judges, sentences, failures, repechage, form defects, referrals, power struggles, splits, in short, I do not think we need to go on to reiterate once again how much our football is light years away from a semblance of normality, we live instead constantly in a condition of extraordinary and not in a positive sense unfortunately. What is totally missing in our football is the collective consciousness of values that are essential in sport, a communion of purpose, the ability to be united and rowing in the same direction. Instead we often find ourselves in front of absurd theaters between players, managers and presidents who do not miss an opportunity to shoot it bigger than the other and give themselves without the slightest conception that they are "part of something much bigger than just a game".

Meanwhile, we who love the NBA enjoy these little moments of beauty waiting for the show to start on the hardwood.
