Illustrated guide to Russia 2018 jerseys - Group D
Argentina, Croatia, Nigeria and Iceland
June 22nd, 2018
Here we are with another chapter of our illustrated guide to the world cup shirts, realized for us by our friend Sergio Scala. Today, we have a proper group of death, both on the pitch and on an aesthetic plan, Group D. In this group, we find Argentina, Croatia, Nigeria and Iceland, four teams that are battling on the pitch just like they’re doing with their kits, not only about this World Cup but the entire history of football.
Argentina - adidas
The shirt of La Albiceleste is without any doubt one of the most iconic in football, also for all the unbelievable champions that worn it through the years. For Russia 2018, adidas gave Leo Messi and his teammates a quite classic home jersey, with some differences that can only be spotted by true experts. Different matter for the away one, that is fully part of adidas’ nostalgic operation and without any doubt one of the most interesting of the tournament, with white and azure diagonal stripes on the side of the chest.
Croatia - Nike
Well, the Croatian shirt needs no introduction but if you want to know something more about the history and the evolution of this jersey you just have to read our special about it. For the tournament in Russia, Nike kept the classic red and white checkered design, a little wider than the usual, choosing for a similar pattern with darker tones for the away kit. Where there’s an international tournament, there has to be Croatia’s shirt.
Nigeria - Nike
Here we go with the true star of the tournament, as the For Naija collection made by Nike Football for the Super Eagles has been under the spotlights for weeks and went sold out within a few minutes. Here, you can read our special about how this shirt was influenced by the street culture, music and of course football, and how it has become an instant classic. It’s a pity for the away kit, that can’t keep up with the more famous sister.
Iceland - Errea
The little northern island’s shirt is the only one at Russia 2018 made by the Italian manufacturer Errea, that chose the Icelandic nation to battle with bigger rivals. And just like Iceland, the shirt made by Errea must not be underrated, as in both the home and away versions are very confident and good-looking, with nice combinations of red, white and blue.
