Here's why Morocco doesn't have a World Cup kit yet
The Moroccan FA and adidas are delaying the release of the new shirt for a very specific reason
April 9th, 2018
We have already talked about Morocco recently, first of all, because of the interesting bid to host the 2026 World Cup we wrote about here. But just over two months before the start of the next World Cup in Russia (where, we remember you, the Atlas Lions were included in the same group as Spain, Portugal, and Iran), nothing has yet been announced about the launch of the Moroccan kit, made by adidas Football. Though the German company, more than weeks ago, has already announced the new jerseys of the other nine teams it sponsors Spain, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Colombia, Belgium, and Mexico.
According to the local newspaper Al Massae, it would not be a simple delay but behind there would be a real agreement between the Moroccan FA and the German sports giant: the reason would concern to the risk, concrete enough, to immediately get fake versions. In the North African country, in fact, there are many factories that produce counterfeit shirts and the goal would be to postpone as much as possible the release of the new match uniforms to avoid losses in economic terms caused by forgery. In the meantime, however, in addition to the many complaints received by the fans tired of waiting so long, it seems that in the Moroccan souqs there have already appeared absolutely false versions, and definitely cheap, inspired by the colors of the Portuguese national team.
