The news was already awaited but it's now official. Ajax has announced that starting from the 2018/19 season the Amsterdam ArenA will change its name, officially becoming the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The Dutch club wanted to homage the Prince of Amsterdam, one of the best representants of Oranje's Calcio Totale (Total Football). The news came through the club's website, that also announced the upcoming arrival of the new logo for the stadium on April 25, the day Cruijff would've turned 71.

In the meantime, the Amsterdam ArenA is already getting ready for the restyling, that will feature multiple modifications to the stadium. From the banners at the entrances to the logos on the stewards' jackets, nothing will be left undone, to homage one of the most extraordinary footballers in history and also a true Ajax legend. Now, it's only a matter of time, the Amsterdam ArenA is ready to become the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
