Nike Football unveiled Chile 2018 collection
The new home and away kits that La Roja will wear in the next qualification stage
April 5th, 2018
Among the biggest absents to the 2018 World Cup that will be played in a couple of month in Russia, there surely is Chile, back-to-back Copa America champion in 2015 and 2016, and also one of the most promising national teams of the last years. Alexis Sanchez and his teammates, though, haven’t been able to prevail in the hardened South American qualification stage and so, just like the Italians, will have to see the World Cup on tv. Nevertheless, Nike Football presented the new home and away kits for la Roja, that the Chilean team will wear for the next qualification path.
The design of the kits has been made around four fundamental points. The first is the color, the very reason why the team is called “La Roja”. The bright red of the shirt is placed on a Nike Vaportswift Fast Fit model, while both the shorts and the socks are “Gym Blue”. The second is the graphic of the away kit, inspired by the shape of the Andean condor, national bird of Chile, represented on the white shirt by red and blue stripes. The third point is the Chilean street signs, that are represented by the numbers and letters of the Nike font. Numbering and lettering are an homage to the Santiago de Chile street signs and also to the country’s plate numbers. In the font, there’s also the fourth inspiration point, the Chilean flag, placed as a five-point star inside of the eight-point star that represents the Mapuche war flag.
The 2018 Chilean Football Federation Collection will debut on-pitch April 4. The entire collection will be available April 19 at retail stores.
