A 18-year-long record

For all basketball enthusiasts all around the world, but also for many fans of other sports, the San Antonio Spurs have always been a reference in terms of long-term planning, continuity in terms of results and commitment to a specific game plan, that would be doing what Gregg Popovich says. For the first time in 18 years, though, the Spurs won’t be able to reach the 50th seasonal win, ending one of the longest-running records in the history of sports.

Without their superstar Kawhi Leonard for the best part of the season, coach Pop’s team currently has a 45-33 record and with just four games to play - playoff will start on April 14 - they have now no possibility of reaching the 50th victory of the season. The verdict came because of the 113-110 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, following one of the Texans’ hardest seasons. Now, the mission will be not to break another record, the participation in the post-season, that the Spurs attend since Tim Duncan’s first season, that would be 1997/98.
