In the last months, Dragon Ball has become one of the hottest topics in the world of fashion, bouncing between pics, videos, merchandise, and collections all over the world. Akira Toriyama’s popular anime, in fact, has been associated with the world of football, for example with Bakary Sako’s custom Mercurials, we have seen it in the NBA with De’Aaron Fox’s custom Nike Kobes, and in fashion with BAPE and adidas’ collections. The last one to homage the Japanese manga has been Warriors’ rookie Jordan Bell, that played with a pair of Nike PG1 inspired by Vegeta, the Prince of Saiyans.
In the game played at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks, the rookie from Oregon showed a pair of custom Nike PG1, inspired by one of the most popular characters of Dragon Ball. Created by artist Kickstradomis, the shoe is mainly blue and black, with a yellow swoosh that is a reference to Saiyans’ aura, and white and black sole. The real gem is the straps that, If seen from above, represent the grim look of Vegeta, one of the saga’s most beloved characters.
The hype that surrounds Dragon Ball is unlikely ending soon - as proved by Paris Saint-Germain supporters’ amazing tifo - so you better stay tuned for the best homages of the legendary manga by Akira Toriyama.
