For the first time, all NBA franchises are worth at least $1B
It's the first time that the league achieves this amazing milestone, thanks to a constant growth

There’s a lot of talks about the exponential growth that the NBA had in the last season, both in terms of global visibility and economic value, two factor that often is connected. Now we can have a more precise idea of the monetary value of this growth, as Forbes released a report on the present value of all thirty franchises that are part of the Association. And the values are staggering, as every single team that plays in the NBA is worth at least one billion dollars.
According to the financial magazine, even the last one of the thirty franchises in the list is worth at least one billion dollar - that would be the New Orleans Pelicans - while on the top there’s the solid binomial New York Knicks/Los Angeles Lakers, that are worth respectively 3,6 and 3,3 billion dollars. It’s the first time that every NBA team achieves this impressive milestone, also due to the massive visibility overseas that the league can praise. Just think of China, that since the opening of an NBA division has increased its worth of four billion dollars.
This also explains how at the top there are two franchises that have struggled in the last years but that can praise a massive number of supporters from the US and worldwide, other than a series of private contracts with sponsors and broadcasters. LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers, for example, are in the fifteenth place with “just” 1,3 billion overall value. It’s also impressive the growth rate of the Philadelphia 76ers, that have seen their value increasing by the 48% thanks to the “Process”.
