Chicago Bulls' new Nike uniforms
A few shirts in sports are as fascinating as the one made famous by Michael Jordan
August 3rd, 2017
The Chicago Bulls unveiled the new kits for the upcoming season 2017/2018, signed by Nike. The big news of this season is that the Bulls are the first team to formally announce they’ll be breaking the tradition of home and away uniforms. Instead of going with the typical white jersey with a red trim at home, they’ll be sporting red jerseys with black lettering and a white trim.
The Bulls' new look seems very clean and it respects the history of the team: the idea of the red as the main color makes sense thinking of the most iconic bulls moment that was always in red (MJ’s last shot of the career, game 5 against Utah with the flu).
From this season the home team can decide which kit wear for the game. This revolution is one of the news brought by the eight-years signing between NBA and The Swoosh. In addition, Nike said in a statement that the main difference is the material used and the mechanical design of the uniform. Nike said they spent 25 years of research and gathering insight from current and former NBA players. They used this knowledge to create basketball uniforms that have heat and cool maps, which help regulate the body’s temperature.
