Nike presents Neymar Jr. Mercurial Vapor "Written in the Stars"

We’ve told you not so long ago, and today, Nike Football made it official. Neymar Junior is ready to make his debut on the pitch with his first exclusive signature shoes by the Swoosh, the Mercurial Vapor “Written in the Stars”. This particular shoe tells the story of who is pointed by everyone, since when he was 16, as the champion of the next generation. A boy that, even with his young age, has always lived with the weight of expectations, ready to make his country and family proud.

“I grew up wearing Mercurial as a kid, so it’s like a dream to have my story on this boot," says Neymar Jr. "It means a lot that it’s not just about me, but my family and the moments I shared with great teammates on the pitch. Growing up in Brasil, football is everything, I am very proud of my country and I hope they are proud of me too.” And it was the Carioca flag itself to inspire the coloration for Neymar Jr’s new Mercurial Vapor, realized with an electric blue and vivid light green.

All the design of the shoe is a continuous homage to “Ney” career and life, starting from the victories with the Brazilian national team – the first goal against the USA in the August of 2010, and the winning goal in last summer’s Olympics – other than the five stars of the “Pentacampeon” Brazil, represented like the crest of the Carioca team. There also are a series of relevant dates: his sister Rafaella’s birthday, his son David Lucca’s one, and of course, his own. On the shoe, there also are the mimic maps of Brazil and Barcelona, other than his top speed, 34.7 KM/H.

Among the other important referrals on Neymar’s Mercurial Vapor, there is his 100th career goal – scored on his 20th birthday – and the screamer scored against Villareal, that made all the Camp Nou stand on his feet. Finally, to highlight once more Ney’s bold football, the words “Ousadia” and “Alegria” – Portuguese for audacity and joy – are represented on the lace aglets of the boot.
