Anatomy of a King
Thoughts, sounds, flavors and poses of Francesco Totti

How can we estimate a loving act? Is there a yardstick, terms of comparisons?
It's not for everyone to understand what loving someone or something else than yourself means, "you cannot understand what the real loss is because it comes out only when you love something more than yourself", Robbie Williams in a wonderful "Will Hunting" monolog about real knowing. To know something deeply you need to live with it, it's maybe the only way, the real one, to estimate love. Totti. You can't understand the way to love a player more than the whole team or your city if you didn't look at Totti play. Even if you didn't live that feeling as "Romanist" or Rome citizen - an honor being romanist, as Totti said – but watching all that beauty came out from a leather ball, you must admit how much Totti has to be in right inside common memory.
But there is something else, because Totti has been more important than the team's destiny: not the Italian championship or the UCL, just look at Totti's playing. Rome supporters didn't care along twenty years about the achievements, they just wanted to see their king. That's love, it is a complex and almost self-harmer kind of love, an high display of an inexplicable feeling, linked to light heartedness and doubtless trust.
It's been told, written and screamed everything about Totti. But that's the truth: Totti has allowed the birth of an authentic love. Something about greatest.
Feel Like Interstellar
Trying to emulate Kubrick, Nolan got something more. If master wanted to create just a wonderful aesthetic piece of movies history (he didn't care about different meanings on his movie), Nolan decided to leave a little stuff in Interstellar: love. Nolan's movies have always some issue with dialogues, but in this case, there is one dialogue so important, Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) says: "love is the only thing we can feel that can go beyond time and space dimensions".
Space, 120 x 90 metres, time, 90 minutes. Totti took those two physics elements and he literally transcended reality to stay closer to Rome supporters.
Dress like 6 unica
Totti's theatricality has two basic parts: during the game, when he looks like a normal player, following the game rules, and suddenly he brought the white rabbit out, the masterpiece; the second part is during the celebrations. Francesco Totti has made history about celebrations and iconic gestures. Since "four goals and we go home" until the thumb in the mouth, through the time he used the camera to focus on the green field. And if his theatricality during the game have been let known in advance by "I am gonna make the spoon", in a kind of ritual time, silence waiting for the miracle; instead celebration theatricality fits the unhandled delirium, endless joy. It's a perfect cloth to common feeling, where an entire community becomes a single exulting person.
Think Like Point Break
Ex U.S.A. Presidents Thieves in "Point Break" looked for a kind of adrenaline that cannot be compared to simple addiction, "I don't want to live more than 30", it's like the desire to not live beyond, in that moment when something is missed. In paining love displays during the Olimpic Sunday maybe the most beautiful, so bitterly ironic, has been the one that said: "I wish i could die earlier". Wonderful, nothing to say. It's the most moving and beautiful way to explain love.
Think Like Second Part Alexander the great
There is a kind of parallelism between Er Pupone and Alexander. The first one has called the king of a city became famous as an empire. A king with a long life who didn't win – except the world soccer cup – anything outside his kingdom boundaries. The second one has had short life, just 33 years old, but he conquered in only 12 years a piece of land so huge that today it's still complicated estimate for.
Maybe calling him "the king", Rome supporters tried to suggest a prophet in hhomelandrole. Totti is the eighth king of Rome but not another empereor because he decided to not rule other people, just taking care of his city.
Sounds Like Lost Love Song
"We will never break up, never and again". Rome supporters should have repeatad it until weariness. And they probably will carry on. De Andrè song talks about everything love means, but not the moment it disappears. Because it's impossible to talk about love saying goodbye. We can try to convince ourselves, it will never be true. Love stays, love remains.
Taste Like Nutella
Form latin cochlearium "tool to eat snails". Built in silver an brass, now in iron. Finger is the only tool compared to spoon that we prefer to eat nutella. But we cannot use the finger to give beauty and majesty with a leather ball on the field: first of all, try to make a lob with your finger, maybe you can, but it will be foul. Probably 90 percent of soccer lovers in Italy would say "Totti" answering to the question: "Say the first thought you think figuring out of the word spoon".
The second word would be "nutella".
Love Like I am gonna miss you
The captain – he'll always be the captain – wrote down on that last kicked leather ball. It's a wonderful word, like a living manifesto. To feel the lack of something or someone it's a kind of feeling complicated to explain, because we need to describe the nothing, to mime a piece of us. The lack assumes a lot of things: the existence of something before, the distance, and the empty space as well. It suggests the body without a basic piece image.
Totti has the leather ball as his basic piece.
Francesco Totti will be missed as just something basic in soccer could be missed. He will be missed as a vital organ. He will be missed as the display of an unique connection between people and their king, but even as an issue to those of them who wanted to disapprove him: they said everything bad about Totti. The truth is that everyone will miss Totti, even those people. Because we will feel a lack of football harmony, a kind of imbalance in talent world.
We will feel the lack of beauty that Totti gave to us for 28 years. And the beauty has never been unnecessary, and it never will.
