At the end of The Lane
The last game ever played at White Hart Lane, as told by the Instagram pictures of Tottenham fans
May 15th, 2017
Probably there was no better way to say hello to White Hart Lane than winning a so important game, against Manchester United, assuring in this way the second position and the Champions League. Tottenham family said goodbye to its stadium after 118 years, many emotions and an unconditional love. It could ended in another way, maybe with a Premier League title, but the Chelsea was too strong this year, for everyone.
Since the first hours of the afternoon thousands of fans started to came around the area, in a strange mid-sunny London afternoon, where the air smelled like legend. A number of celebratory jerseys, with a “I was there” that will be repeated like a mantra in the following year. It was not easy to condense in a single day the long history that that grass has seen: European finals, Olympic Games, great champions (including Diego Maradona). Also the sky tried to pay homage at the history, offering an incredible rainbow that brought the people to a new era.
We tried to tell this historical day through the images of the fans that were at the stadium and posted their pictures on Instagram, to homage “The Lane”. Family pic, flags, community sense. The most beautiful part of football, once more.
