Kansas City Wizards' retro night jersey
The MLS side will honor the away kit from the 1998 season
May 12th, 2017
There's a costume in American sports that we wish we will see one day on the Old Continent's shores. It's the "retro night", some nights with basketball, soccer or American football games when the clubs celebrates their heritage, usually by wearing some replicas or remakings of their old kits. In this case, we talk about the Wizards - not Washington, NBA team from the Capitol - but Kansas City.
The Sporting KC, in fact, will wear a special celebratory shirt during the game against the Seattle Sounders on May 17, honoring the classic away kit from the 1998 season. The kit is almost identical to the original, with the polo neck, the classic Wizards logo and the signature Charlie Brown rainbow, but adds Ivy Investments sponsor branding in a retro font along with Sporting KC and MLS logos. The jerseys will be sold during the game at the stadium and any remaining inventory will be made available for purchase. So, if you want one you should get in touch with Wizards' staff through their social media.
