Diary of a dream: first issue, Exeter City

London – Story of a dream, is an extraordinary project by Ivan Ambrosio, who decided to visit as much as UK stadiums is possible and then narrate them in a book. Ivan has surpassed quote 250 and he still, incessantly, keep in his mission. We contacted him, and decided to host some pages of his diary to live his dream together. This is the first issue, enjoy it.

 

“How is that even possible? I’m on the train for due years and I never mistake a platform number. It is incredible that this is happening today!”
This happens just after I went out from the Exeter City Football Club and, with sadness, I started to walk towards the city center, waiting for the next train in one hour.

I walk and think: if things went in this way there will be maybe a reason… For many years I dream to see the changing room of that stadium I just visited, that place where an amazing interview with Jurgen Kloop took place. So I decided to come back to the stadium and try the impossible. As soon as I get there the miracle happens.

Colin Baker, a big man, look at me at ask:

«Hi man, do you need help?»

«Hey, yes, actually, I’d like to visit the changing room, it is possible, please?»

«Of course my friend, let’s go».

We spend more than one hour and half inside the stadium, he shows me the changing room, the room with the club best memories, he tells me wonderful things and, suddenly, he walk me into that place I always dreamed, I always wanted to see and says: «Look, this is the real football my friend».

 

He then shows me a mirror just below a TV and says: «look friend, my father gave that mirror to the club. He always supported the team, he helped when he could and now he’s here, and every morning I look at him saying: “Hey dad, how are you? Mum says hi to you, we know you’re always here with us».

«This is amazing Colin».

«Yes, my friend, and on the other side of the stadium there are the names of my daughters and my wife and mine. We really love Exeter City».

«Thanks a lot for this..»

«My pleasure man, it is really a great pleasure, and: do not forget us…».
