The world was upside down for just a second
PSG-Barcelona was one of the biggest upsets ever
February 15th, 2017
The best team of the world, the best players in Europe and a club that has won everything it could’ve won. Fallen, every one of them, at the hand of a bunch of stars. To see Cavani and Di Maria fight like lions, moreover in their birthday, has been something beyond every God and human comprehension. At some point, I had to stand up and take a breath. I told myself that wasn’t possible, it looked like the world had turned upside down for a second, a moment last for 90 minutes, just the time to get slapped by the fate.
Messi and his teammates weren't capable to fight back. Champions like them, like Messi, Suarez, Neymar and Iniesta, couldn’t fight back, and the reason is that they’ve never felt like that, so out from their world of commanders, so unarmed in front of someone stronger, fitter or maybe just hungrier.
And at this point, I remembered Gigi Buffon’s words before Euro 2012 final against Spain, he said something like: “The stronger team doesn’t win all the times, sometimes the better team wins”. And that’s how Verratti and his teammates revealed themselves yesterday night. Better. Fuck the pure talent, fuck the expected outcome. It’s all about being united, the group, the work, the effort, the sacrifice. That’s what makes you better than someone stronger than you, because the world can be turned upside down, even for just a second.
