From July 24th to 28th the island of Ortigia turned into the place to be not only for all the music fans, appealed by the impressive line-up of this year’s edition, but also for all those people eager to dive into an atmosphere suspended in time, divided between the classic and historical buildings of the Sicilian city and the sounds of the festival projected towards the future.

More than 19 thousands people coming from 40 different countries landed in Ortigia for the 5-day festival to experience it in its 7 different locations, each unique of its kind. The boat parties remain one of the most anticipated events of the whole festival, which this year has seen Colapesce kicking off the fun. Between the Maniace Ortigia, the #OSS main stage and the Km0 location surrounded by the woods, on stage alternated names with the likes of Giorgio Moroder, the undisputed king of electronic music, Virgil Abloh, designer and creative that needs no introduction, and again Neon Indian, Youssef Dayes, Charlotte Adigéry, Venerus, Kokoko!, Elena Colombi, Lamusa II, Pangaea, Ben Ufo and Pearson Sound. An international line-up made even more special by the evocative locations that make the festival a gem to discover.

Ortigia Sound System is the event we wanted and that was missing, able to blend different disciplines all sharing the same will of discovering and valorizing the land where the festival is rooted. This edition saw moreover the live painting sessions by Domenico Romeo, the video installations by Nuova Astrazione, the talk area curated by Leonardo Caffo, the football tournament powered by Calcetto Eleganza and the food truck by Maurizio Tentella TNT to taste the real Ortigia.

We still have clear in our mind the image of the sun rising, with the ray of lights brightening the woods after a night spent dancing, ready once again to lose ourselves into the alleys of Ortigia following that sentimiento nuevo that animates the island.
