As we had anticipated here, for its new project Renew Canvas, Converse has decided to focus on sustainability, clothing two of its most iconic silhouettes with 100% recycled polyester derived from used plastic bottles. An ambitious, innovative and necessary project, that the brand has decided to present to the European audience and media with an event that took place yesterday in London.
nss magazine was invited to take part in the event in the city to discover in advance how Converse is working towards an increasingly green direction. The key to the success of this initiative is definitely the new fabric, a completely sustainable material that looks and feels like the classic cotton canvas usually used for the sneakers of the brand. Altogether there are nine new models in the Converse Renew Canvas line: three Chuck 70 key style and six Chuck Taylor All Star. All in soft nuances and colourway that remind of the eco and natural inspiration of the collection. This is just the first chapter of a wider project aimed at making sustainability the focus of the whole brands, a project that Converse will carry on in the upcoming months.
During last night's event, opened to European influencers and media, you could breather the coolness of the city of London, marked by the rhythm of the music that made all the guests dance - of course with a pair of Converse on their feet - to the hit Kiki Do You Love Me.
