Nike Tech Pack Atelier exclusive interviews

In preparation for the Nike FW2018 Tech Pack release, Nike held a special Tech Pack atelier in Milan from July 3rd-5th. The atelier saw workshops over three days, where special talents came and presented their various takes on certain Tech Pack pieces. The talents included Capo Plaza, Federico Bernardeschi and day one kicked things off with legendary Milan sneaker store One Block Down together with designer Mini Swoosh taking on the Nike Tech Pack Woven jacket in a unique iteration.

Relive the event with us through the pictures above, and nss also had the exclusive opportunity to sit down to interview Patrizio Vita, co-founder of One Block Down, and the designer Mini Swoosh.

Alexandra Hackett, aka. Mini Swoosh designer of the explorative menswear label Alch, now based in London, explores the process of deconstruction and reconstruction in order to extend the life spans of pre-existing products, through visualizing the body as a product and clothing as its packing. Mini Swoosh together with OBD created a unique edition of the jacket. From the sketch stage, they walked through the process together until the finished product.

Firstly as an internal event, a select few creatives were then later invited in to see the results, and take part in creating their own ideas into physical manifestations, the fresh ideas of the street literally becoming manifested through the tools of Nike’s Tech Pack. Tech Pack also carries a cryptographic theme and a code system underlying the workshops and its collaborators. Not just a series of numbers, the code is a guiding principle for each of the talents, with an assigned word exemplifying the story that led them to where they are today.

One Block Down’s code word was VISION and each letter represented a tale in OBD story of success, about how they select right the sneakers for the store, how it all started with a stock of Jordan 4’s, and the role of Michael Jordan’s influence. The importance of building a community, and how you can see the world through them, never excluding anyone. Remembering your roots, while you need to keep evolving, are all transcribed through the Tech Pack code.
