University education in the United States has become a luxury nowadays. Parents save money for years to finance their children’s education and sometimes are not able to pay off their debts.
Rihanna has decided to reach out to the most deserving young people with limited financial resources, establishing 50 scolarships with a budget from $ 5,000 to $ 50,000 through her charity association Clara Lionel Foundation, born in 2012 in memory of her grandparents.
The funds will be allocated to students from Barbados, Brazil, Haiti, Guyana, Cuba, Jamaica and the United States. “To be able to give the gift of an education is actually an honour” the singer said, “higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this”.
Applications are open until June 10, 2016, here.
