A mother, a son, burning houses, neon lights, bizarre characters and the syncopated soundtrack by the Chromatics frontman Johnny Jewel. It's the trailer for "Lost River", awaited directorial debut of Ryan Gosling.
Set in a decaying Detroit, the film tells the story of Billy, a single mother, played by Christina Hendricks of "Mad Men", and his son Bones (Iain De Caestecker).
When the boy discovers a secret road that leads him to an underwater city, the woman is dragged into a dark underground world. Together, the two will face this mystery so that their families can survive. It's a lysergic noir tale, that despite the hostile criticism received during the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year, it seems a beautiful visual delirium.
